Dr. Katie Woodley, BVSc, GDVCHM, cVMA, is an internationally renowned holistic veterinarian. She is a member of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association and the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies. Dr. Woodley earned her Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University in New Zealand and her Bachelor of Science at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Katie, as she’s affectionately referred to by her audience and pet parents, fell in love with the nature setting in New Zealand and it was there that she was introduced to natural healing before settling in Colorado. In this episode of The Essential Oil Revolution, I do my first solosode! I review studies on how essential oils impact the microbiome. Specifically, I explore the evidence on how they can selectively inhibit pathogens as they support our beneficial bacteria. I became interested in becoming a naturopathic doctor when I got my life back after suffering from chronic pain from two herniated discs, celiac disease, Lyme disease, and emotional upheaval from it all! Throughout my healing journey, I implemented many holistic tools. Essential oils, nutrition, yoga, nutraceuticals, whole food supplementation, and chiropractic allowed me to regain my passion for living. Each had a powerful place in my health story, but essential oils stole my heart.
Dr. Eugene Zampieron earned a B.S. in Biological and Marine Sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, minoring in Science & Technology. He began to engage in masters’ level course work in marine invertebrate zoology, but his field research in Jamaica, WI changed his life and career path after recovering from an illness using ancient, herbal medicine. Due to his awe for the power of plant medicine, in 1990, he pursued his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) degree at the acclaimed Bastyr University. Dr. Chapek is a true brain health warrior, a trail-blazing pioneer, an exceptionally brilliant physician, and expert in psychiatric care. He studied human biology at the University of Kansas and received his naturopathic medicine degree at the internationally renowned Bastyr University. Dr. Chapek has an extensive background in treating a wide range of mental health disorders. Dr. Thomas Moorcroft (Dr. Tom) completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont and attended the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). Hana Tisserand is the COO, cofounder, and director of operations and communications of the Tisserand Institute, the global leader in online evidence-based essential oils education. Hana has been working at the Tisserand Institute since 2014 and she oversees the creation of its course content and curricula, moderates live webinars, supervises the staff, and teaches her own introductory classes.
